Trail Blazer Award


A total of twelve awards have been given to active 4-Hers in Northampton County. These youth competed at the 4-H State Congress at North Carolina State University. Gregory Davis was a state and national 4-H winner in the areas of landscaping and horticulture.

Community
Health Forums


GBDF sponsors a variety of Community Health Forums for the general public focusing on topics such as elderly health, women's and men's health, HIV/AIDS, cancer, dental health and a host of other topics. GBDF has sponsored forum on "Caring for the Elderly Years", "Dental Health Screening", and "HIV/AIDS Services" over the past 3 years.

Annual Care
Basket Giving


100 CARE BASKETS containing personal items such as soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, plastic gloves, etc. are given annually to persons with HIV/AIDS in Northampton and Halifax counties. The Northampton County Health Department staff and the Director of the HIV/AIDS Outreach Program at the Halifax Regional Medical Center distributed CARE BASKETS on behalf of GBDF. Special contributors included Johnson and Johnson, Walmart, CVS Pharmacy, Procter and Gamble, and area physicians.

Project Exodus:

Contributes to their annual Youth Camp which hosts over 800 youth each summer.

Haven House Charitable Foundation, Atlanta, Georgia

Contributes to the Haven House annual holiday giving during the past 3 years.. Haven House provides inpatient and outpatient hospice services to terminally ill persons in the greater Atlanta area.

HIV-Program:
Halifax County Regional Medical Center


Contributions are made towards providing winter coats and blankets for persons with HIV/AIDS and for outreach activities.

Respite Care for Caretakers of Persons with Alzheimer's Disease

Supports local programs targeting Eastern North Carolina initially that provide Respite Care for caretakers of persons with Alzheimer's Disease. Respite Care is designed to provide opportunities for caretakers to have time for themselves and take care of personal and emotional needs by offering overnight weekday and weekend accommodations, general care, and supervised activities for Persons with Alzheimer's.
